The latest techniques in platemaking all focus on improving the quality and consistency of the dot – the raised area on the plate that carries the ink.

With the advent of digital platemaking, there was a lessening of dot quality when compared to analog platemaking.

Manufacturers worked hard to find a solution, and in the end, a number of different methods were found to produce higher quality results from digital.
